Exhibition of Puppets built by Elisa Vilaça

With casa de Portugal in Macau as the objective, among others, of the promotion of different types of art, puppets have been one of the areas contemplated in this project of cultural and artistic dissemination. The exhibition, now evident in this emblematic space, which also has a long history, allows us to recall precisely a little of what has been done during the last 10 years. About 60 puppets and animated shapes created, built and manipulated by Elisa Vilaça are on display and small notes are also available from the shows presented and some elements that were part of the Chinese New Year Parades.

It should be noted that about 80% of the materials used in the construction of puppets were obtained through recycling or reuse of materials, and this aspect is highlighted in the pedagogical work developed in schools, together with the awareness of the urgent need for environmental preservation.

The thematic contents are very diverse allowing a cross-sectional reading that reconciles tradition, pedagogy and multiculturalism.

The exhibition also has a small area reserved for the stories of the Lambe-Lambe Theater. Also known as Miniature Theatre, it consists of a language of animated forms that occupies a minimal scenic space formed by a miniature stage confined in a box of small dimensions.
