The intention is to introduce students to the instrument, its potential, what musical styles it excels in, its history, and the repertoire written to date. Students will have the opportunity to have their first contact with the instrument, learning some of the basic techniques such as posture, positioning of hands and arms, fingering, major and minor scales and simple melodies.
